In depth
Verdict
In a race where few of those with experience catch the eye, Michael Jarvis' Zeryaab is selected to justify some fancy entries and make a winning debut, with Crystal Theatre, Westerly Air and Desert Quest others to note. Michael Jarvis boasted a very good record with his three-year-olds at this course last year, and that record could continue here with Zeryaab, a Barathea colt who is closely related to Saafeya, a Listed winner over this trip who was also placed in Group 2 company. He is entered for both the Derby and the Dante Stakes, so has clearly been showing up well at home. Of the other newcomers, the market should give a clue as to the chances of Henry Cecil's Crystal Theatre, John Gosden's Lord Crispin and Sir Michael Stoute's Westerly Air. Stoute is another trainer with a good record at this track and Desert Quest, third on his sole start at Leicester last year, is the pick of those with previous experience.
