In depth
Verdict
Peter Makin's yard are flying at present and Inch By Inch looks capable of adding to an impressive sequence, with On The Trail, Coranglais and Ligne D'Eau others to consider. The selection is equally at home over five and six furlongs, having won two races at each other those trips on her last fours starts. She took well to this surface when running on to beat Chickado last weekend and can continue to thrive in this type of race. On The Trail has a significant pull at the weights with the selection for a length defeat last week and will be more at home over this trip than six furlongs. He also acts on the surface and will not be far away, but whether he has the gears of the selection remains open to question. Coranglais is dropping through the handicap and his next win may not be far away, though this surface may not be ideal, while Ligne D'Eau tackles the minimum trip for the first time and is therefore something of an unknown quantity. A winner over six furlongs last time out at Redcar, he won't be too far away if he can match the others for toe, but we are still happy to side with Inch By Inch to make it five in a row.
