Verdict
In the opener, Pigeon Island gets the call ahead of Whatizzit and Markington. A 75,000gns purchase, Pigeon Island's Lingfield second over 10 furlongs on his racecourse debut was full of promise and, much as it is a little surprising to see him drop in trip today, he ought to go well. Whatizzit also caught the eye on her course and distance debut and has to come into calculations. Asbury Park showed plenty of promise on his debut and, although slightly disappointing last time, that run came on good to soft, so do not rule him out. The 38,000 guineas purchase, Fantasy Legend, and Walter Swinburn's Fisher Bridge, a half-brother to Palamedes, are newcomers of interest. Finally, Markington stayed on late when he got the hang of things on his debut here, so expect improvement today, and much as Spanish Lace is bred to stay a lot further than this, her course and distance debut was also full of promise. Overall, though, we will just side with Pigeon Island.
