Verdict
Desert Opal and Sir Sandrovitch were both considered but the vote goes to Madrasee. Quite simply, Madrasee was an eye-catcher last time, staying on well over five furlongs after having met trouble in running. Up in trip today, she holds every chance of going well. Desert Opal likes it here and a return to the level of either of his September course and distance wins puts him with solid claims, while Sir Sandrovitch ran well here last time over five furlongs and would have been more strongly fancied but for his wide draw. Of the others, Red Sovereign would have a big chance on his summer Turf form and Blythe Spirit, a course and distance winner off a much higher mark a year ago, would hold good claims on that basis, but he will need put behind him a sequence of modest efforts. All of which returns us to the selection, which is Madrasee.
