Verdict
Last month's course and distance winner Spark Up can race off just a 2lb higher mark than when successful but was held off today's mark over a mile here subsequently and he looks worth taking on with Bint Makbul, who gets the vote over Komena. The last mentioned ran better than expected in a claimer here over six furlongs last time and, in receipt of weight, may be interesting but preference is for Bint Makbul. Richard Hannon's filly showed that she handles dirt when campaigned in Dubai last winter and, having had a light campaign on turf, comes here a fresh horse. The daughter of Makbul is still unexposed and looks worth a bet in the finale. Lisa Jones has been booked for the lightly raced Najaaba, who could be interesting, while Ivy Moon is well treated on the pick of her turf form but has failed to sparkle previously on sand. With the yard of Derek Haydn Jones among the winners, Lady Natilda has to be respected but Bint Makbul holds solid claims and gets the vote.
