In depth

Verdict

None of these have looked anything special to date, but with the step up to 10 furlongs expected to bring about improvement from Resonance, he is the choice to see off the likes of Bill Bennett and Master Theo. Amanda Perrett's filly is a half-sister to several winners at distances up to two miles, so there is every reason to believe she will be well suited by this stiffer test. She has already proven she acts around here when beaten less than two-lengths into fourth behind Rendezvous Point earlier this month. Bill Bennett comes here in good form having chased home Clog Dance on the Fibresand at Wolverhampton. Whether this faster surface will suit as well is open to question, but if handling the Polytrack, must go well. Bold Joe, just in front of Bill Bennett at Brighton, has experience of this track, but is short of pace and will appreciate this step up in trip, having found a mile too sharp for him last time. Strictly on the book Keep On Movin has the beating of both of them using Bold Joe as a yardstick, but this Danehill Dancer filly doesn't look as open to as much improvement as some of her rivals. Master Theo stepped up on his debut when running into third place behind Cimyla here last month. He is another who looks sure to appreciate this stiffer test. John Gosden's runners on the all-weather surfaces are always worth a second look (42% strike rate with two-year-olds), and Semelle De Vent is sure to have her supporters, but we will stick with Resonance, who is open to improvement at this trip.
