Verdict
Two or three to concentrate on here, with Good Potential taken to continue his winning form from Xellance and Xaipete. David Wintle's charge scored at Newton Abbot last time out, winning a two and three quarter mile contest by five lengths from Mister Webb. An 11lb rise for that success looks a pretty tough call from the handicapper, but he loves the ground and can defy that rise now that he is in good heart and running against plenty of other exposed types. One of those is Xellance, trained by Philip Hobbs. The gelding remains on the same mark as when short-headed at Stratford last time and though that smacks of him being weighted right up to the hilt, he looks comfortably worth a place in this race. Richard Guest likes to give Xaipete plenty of racecourse action, though he has had a bit of a break lately and runs over hurdles for the first time since April. Upped 5lb for that last outings, when he was third, he is unlikely to be fully match fit after that time off but should be somewhere near at the finish and can make the frame. But our vote goes to Good Potential to continue on the upgrade.
