Verdict
The race of the day which should concern St Pancras, who presumably has been difficult to train, having made a belated return to action, The Trader, Vision Of Night and Ashdown Express, with the latter getting a narrow vote. Chris Wall's consistent colt is fully effective under these conditions and has nothing to fear from Vision Of Night, who was well beaten at Newbury, yet faces the selection on 5lbs worse terms. The booking of Kieren Fallon is another bonus and Ashdown Express is taken to regain the winning thread. Vision Of Night has been a wonderful servant to John Dunlop. This evergreen campaigner has mixed it with some of the best in recent years and while he may not be as good as he was, he does have his optimum conditions here and is sure to give a good account. The Trader has done all of his winning at five-furlongs and could be up against it competing with these six-furlong specialists, while St Pancras is well drawn on the rails and if back to the form he showed as a two-year-old when runner-up in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes, he would make them all go. Hidden Dragon would be better off in handicaps, while Doctor Dennis and Desert Fury won't see which way these go. So with doubts about The Trader over this trip, Ashdown Express is taken to lead Vision Of Night home.
