In depth

Verdict

The promising DEACON BLUES can prove top of the pops in this contest with Street Power and Angus Newz amongst those that can fill the minor places. The selection duly confirmed the promise of his debut when bolting up later in the same month and looked a nice prospect from a family that his trainer knows well. His reappearance at Doncaster was satisfactory whilst connections felt that they hadn't quite got the tactics right when he was beaten at Nottingham next time and there appears to be little that he has to fear in this line-up. Angus Newz is on a fair mark and not running too badly this season so merits respect having made the frame on all three runs at this track whilst Street Power's latest run is probably best ignored and he had a progressive profile prior to that blip and is unexposed on turf. Fantasy Gladiator has more to do from a 5lb higher mark in this company than he did when beating Dvisnky at Kempton in September and is probably best watched as Deacon Blues is strongly fancied to fill the number one spot.
