Verdict
Not many of these can be given much of a chance and the vote goes to Lord Rapier, who has more solid claims than most. Denis Caro's gelding is not exactly thrown in but is at least on a winning mark, comes here in reasonable form having chased home Eau De Cologne last time and is well suited by trip and ground. Topweight Dorans Gold has yet to prove his effectiveness over this distance while Twisted Logic, another at the top end of the handicap, has never won off a mark as high as he races off today. Mickthecutaway has disappointed in his last two starts and is difficult to recommend with any confidence and both Lanmire Tower and Emperor's Magic seem a little high in the weights on recent evidence. Navarone would have claims if a below par effort last time is ignored but is a doubtful stayer. Neither Tribal Dancer nor Nordic Prince can be relied upon to show their best form.
