In depth
Verdict
This handicap looks quite trappy and the narrow preference is for Hythe Bay, over Caustic Wit and Talcen Gwyn. This filly recorded her only career win here at Folkestone and she was only narrowly beaten at Lingfield last time by Black Moma. She is not ideally drawn today but she has ground conditions to suit and she should run a big race. Caustic Wit is a course and distance winner and although he is pretty exposed, he is holding his form well and that was highlighted last time when he was only narrowly beaten by Sands Crooner at Bath. Talcen Gwynn won last time but may be vulnerable under his penalty today, while Valiant Romeo has yet to race this year so should strip fitter for the outing. Hythe Bay is therefore put forward as the selection.
