    Verdict

Grand Place has the best form overall and can make that count against newcomer Cayenne, with General Haigh best of the rest. Richard Hannon has his team in fine order this week and Grand Place will be a popular choice in the first of eight races at the Kent track. The son of Compton Place holds an entry in the St Leger Yearling Stakes at Doncaster and may yet go there if he can just improve a bit further. This is certainly a big drop in class from the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury in which he only beat one home, but based on his promising effort earlier at Kempton, the Everleigh youngster looks the one to beat. The others, General Haigh apart, do not have as much scope, and it may be best left to David Simcock's newcomer Cayenne to provide the main danger. The market is best watched for the confidence in the German-bred filly though, and in all probability, Grand Place will be hard to beat.
