Verdict
Nevisian Lad may prove the answer to a good renewal of this prestigious juvenile event in which King's Point, Lucky Story and The Mighty Tiger are the other leading contenders. Michael Bell's charge stamped his class when making a winning debut at Newmarket's Craven meeting and showed he was progressing when a staying-on third in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. The son of Royal Applause appreciated the step up to six furlongs when overcoming trouble in running to land the Group 2 July Stakes next time and this sharp seven furlongs should see the colt in even better light. Kings Point showed significant improvement for the step up to this trip when coming late to snatch the Group 3 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket's July meeting and Richard Hannon's charge can be expected to give another good account. Mark Johnston's juveniles have been in excellent order and Lucky Story has won his last two starts in impressive fashion so is well worth a crack at this prize while Aidan O'Brien's well bred Curragh maiden winner, The Mighty Tiger, adds further spice but Nevisian Lad has the form in the book and looks the one to beat.
