Verdict
Mark Johnston has a fine record at this meeting and the Midleham handler is taken to lift this valuable prize with Double Obsession while Largo, Leporello and stable mate Financial Future appear the main dangers. The selection has proved a revelation of late and followed up a comfortable success over this trip at Ascot early in the month with another victory on a return visit to the track on King George day. The son of Sadler's Wells showed a smart turn of foot to go clear of his rivals on the home turn on the later occasion and, with further improvement to come, he can defy a 7lb penalty on a track that should suit ideally. Largo also bids for a hat-trick after wins at Chepstow and Windsor but, although open to further progress, this represents a sterner test for John Dunlop's filly. Leporello is an unexposed sort who has won three of his four starts, overcoming trouble in running to come late to snatch a ten-furlong handicap at Newmarket last time. The son of Danehill shapes as though he will be suited by this step up in trip and has to be feared while Financial Future followed a wide margin Haydock maiden success with victory in the Swiss Derby and is another to consider but the percentage call is with Double Obsession to take the honours.
