      Verdict

      Bessemer holds a narrow best-chance on official adjusted ratings here and he gets the call ahead of Hawkit, Bailieborough and Mobane Flyer. Much as he was beaten by Bailieborough when sent off as favourite at Musselburgh last time, the selection is now four pounds better off for a neck beating, which puts him firmly back in with a chance today. However, a possible downside is that he has not run well here since his debut, and the stiiff Scottish finish will certainly test his resolve. By contrast, Bailieborough has run well here, so he is respected, even on revised terms, while the highest-rated of the field is Hawkit, and he is a course and distance winner, so gets a big shout, with his run at Haydock on July 1st surely having sharpened him up. Finally, Mobane Flyer, who has also proven that he can run well here, should also be competitive for a place but just might not be able to get his head in front on today's terms. All of which returns us to Bessemer, who gets a narrow vote.
