In depth

Verdict

A fascinating line-up for this fillies' race and the vote goes to Satin Kiss ahead of possibly her stablemate, Makrama, and Rashida. Looking at the field. Sapphire Dream wasn't beaten far in a Listed race at Beverley before being put in her place at Royal Ascot but she will find it hard to concede weight to what appear to be some interesting types. Among these are the Brian Meehan-trained Indiena, who seems to be improving but still needs to find more, Jeremy Noseda's Rashida, who cost 150,000 euros and is a half-sister to the Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Tarascon, and Bridge T' The Stars, who cost only 800 guineas as a foal but duly obliged at the first time of asking on the racecourse. She will need to improve upon that effort to play a leading part today, though, as she has to contend with the Godolphin operation's pair, Satin Kiss, who looked good when winning on her debut but was put in her place in the Cherry Hinton last time, and the Danzig filly, Makrama, who is making her debut and whose dam won at Grade 1 level over seven furlongs. As we say, it's an interesting contest but, once again, the vote goes to Satin Kiss.
