In depth

Verdict

A very competitive renewal in which we will side with Leg Spinner to get his head in front at the expense of Border Castle and Group Captain. The selection comes from the yard of the king of handicaps Tony Martin. He has been a versatile performer as he has been running on the flat of late winning the Cesarewitch last time out and in the process landing a big gamble. Stamina will not be an issue and niether will pace and although his latest jumps form reads a little below par the market will play a big hand with regards to his chances. Border Castle will pose as the biggest danger. He has been in blinding form of late winning at Chepstow and Ayr. Now rated as high as 152 he doesn't look as well treated as some of his rivals here but another bold run can be expected. Group Captain comes from the much respected Alan King yard. A very good handicapper on the flat rated as high as 110 he broke his maiden tag at Newbury before landing small novice events with a penalty at Taunton and Exeter. His latest run behing Pigeon Island is possibly his best to date and he has to be a threat in the race. A tricky handicap to call but we will return to Leg Spinner who we feel has a live chance.
