In depth

Verdict

Dewasentah can return with a bang to beat the likes of Rude Health, Barrow Brook and La Perrotine. With the Malcolm Jefferson stable in good form at present, Dewasentah must have a sound chance of adding to her course and distance victory gained in April. It is always perilous backing animals to defy a penalty, especially in bumpers, but she makes most appeal of those to have been out so far. Barrow Brook shaped well behind Arctic Echo here in October so has a bit of course knowledge and can give the selection most to do. Rude Health has had three runs already and will probably be in the shake-up, while La Perrotine will improve on this first outing since March. That one's stablemate Abbey Princess should be noted in the market on her debut, and with Richard Fahey in good form on the Flat, Empress of Ireland is another to watch for in the exchanges. Dewasentah is taken to defy a penalty in the finale.
