Verdict
Rated 99 on the level in Ireland, Englishtown should really only have to jump round to claim this poor contest, with Cullen Road and Galey River the potential dangers. Englishtown makes his debut in the J P McManus colours here and the legendary owner-punter will feel he has a great opportunity of landing another prize. A 12 furlong specialist on the level, he will get this trip easily, is sure to have been well prepared at home, and Tony McCoy can steer him home. Cullen Road has the benefit of plenty of hurdling experience, but despite improving of late he keeps finding one too good, and with the selection having bags more Flat speed he looks like having to wait for another opportunity to get off the mark. Galey River put up a decent effort when runner up to Giorgio at Worcester on his hurdling debut and can go well, but if he jumps round then Englishman should have too many guns for his rivals, and he is our choice.
