Verdict

Easter Ogil has been a revelation since being switched to the all-weather, and it will take a good one to lower his colours here. Formerly with Ian and then Andrew Balding, he was claimed by Mark Wallace after winning in that grade on the Polytrack in January, and has scored twice in apprentice company for his new stable. He dropped back to seven furlongs on the latest occasion when partnered by Jean-Pierre Guillambert, who rides again, taking a useful five pounds off his back. That will come in handy against his main rival Archon who was only beaten a head by our selection over the course and distance on 30 January. Nerys Dutfield's charge will come on for the run and looks a banker for the frame, making more appeal than Mad Carew with his welter burden and Anemos, who, although a winner here on his all-weather debut in 1999, seems to reserve his best for the fibresand at Wolverhampton.
