      In depth

      Verdict

Echelon can come back with a bang to beat the likes of Indian Maiden, Strut and Chantilly Beauty. It is nice to see Echelon being kept in training rather than packed off to the paddocks, and the decision can bring immediate reward as Sir Michael Stoute's filly returns to the fray to contest this Group 3 prize. She had fallen just short when asked to compete at this level in the past, but in truth it does not look the strongest of races, and with trip and ground to suit, she can enhance her already considerable value as a future broodmare. She has Coconut Squeak beaten at Newmarket last September and should certainly maintain that form, with Indian maiden a bigger threat, although she has yet to win over seven furlongs. Nevertheless, Mal Saunders' filly is a gutsy sort and will give a good account. Strut has not been disgraced since asked to compete at Group level and will pay to follow, while Chantilly Beauty is used to mixing it with good company abroad and is worth noting if the rain comes. The class act though is Echelon, and she can prove that here.
