Verdict
Not the easiest event to end proceedings, so it¿s with not too much confidence that Hefin is selected, ahead of Academy and Final Dividend. Apart from a disappointing effort at Wolverhampton, Ian Wood¿s gelding has been a model of consistency throughout the season and looked as good as ever when a close up third behind Camzo here last month and can notch his third win of the campaign. Academy hasn¿t managed a victory this year but has gone close on numerous occasions including a gallant second to Accepting in a competitive handicap at Pontefract recently and will make a bold bid for this prize. The dark horse could be Final Dividend who showed signs of a return to form over the one mile five furlong trip here a fortnight ago and should relish this extra distance. If Monday¿s Southwell winner Macaroni Gold takes his chance then he should also be in the shake up but Hefin may just be good enough.
