        Verdict

        Day One, Messe de Minuit, Bienvenue, Monte Major and Sunny Lady all catch the eye but the selection for this race is Suave Quartet. The Gerard Butler-trained colt has a good draw, will not lack for experience and showed plenty of promise on his second run when chasing home Cracking Rosie over course and distance 30 days ago. Marcus Tregoning's Bienvenue also showed promise over today's course and distance when making her debut 13 days ago. However, the time of that race was slower than the race in which Suave Quartet ran although, having run green, the Bien Bien filly, who is a half-sister to the stable's 14-furlong scorer Browning, is fully entitled to improve for the experience. She certainly rates a danger to the selection. Roger Charlton's Messe de Minuit showed promise on his Redcar debut, while Monte Major and the Ed Dunlop-trained pair Music Mix and Sunny Lady, would be interesting if the market spoke in their favour. Geoff Wragg's Day One, a son of Daylami who cost 80,000gns, is related to some very good winners, including the speedy Ego, so is one to keep an eye on also. Bless 'Em All and Red Contact cannot be dismissed out of hand but, all things considered, we'll take Suave Quartet to land the second division of the maiden.
