Verdict
A number of big stables represented here so watch the market for clues but, without that prior knowledge, Okoboji, Rendoro, Soviet Sceptre, Mambina and, possibly, Secret Place form our shortlist with the selection being Okoboji. The Marcus Tregoning-trained selection showed a great deal of promise when fourth on his debut at Doncaster 19 days ago and, with plenty of good American blood on the dam's side of his pedigree, holds solid claims here from a reasonable draw. Rendoro has improved with each run, both of them coming over today's course and distance. The most-recent of these was when staying on behind The Way We Were and he can run well again from stall two. Soviet Sceptre ran with promise on his Goodwood debut behind the smart Psychiatrist in August and comes into the reckoning on the basis of that effort, while Mambina made eyecatching late headway over seven furlongs on her Newmarket debut, and is another to warrant serious consideration, although stall 12 does not look ideal. Clive Brittain's Boxgrove, Henry Candy's Irish Blade, Roger Charlton's Kali and the well-bred Ed Dunlop runner Secret Place, who cost 62,000gns as a yearling, look interesting among the newcomers but we'll side with experience and put forward Okoboji as the selection.
