In depth
Verdict
Lafontaine Bleu is selected in the finale, while Valery Borzov and Milson's Point are also respected. Baileys Outshine has also shown good speed on occasions and, despite his yard being quite of late, he is one to put on the back-burner for future reference. He may need a touch further before too long. Milson's Point landed a couple of soft races on the All Weather and arrives here with his confidence on a high. Still this is a tougher test and he needs to find more improvement. Valery Borzov showed ability on his solitary start last season and got off the mark in good style. However, he doesn't appear to be particularly well treated for his handicap debut and, despite holding scope for improvement, he looks vulnerable on these terms. Therefore, we side with Lafontaine Bleu, who looks the pick of Richard Fahey's pair. The daughter of Piccolo had excuses a couple of times last season and may have made more of an impact had she been able to stay on the straight and narrow. The Fahey team will no doubt have put her through her paces at home since she was last seen out and, with the yard in good form, this could be another piece of good placement from the Malton-based outfit.
