In depth

Verdict

Turton is best in at the weights on official ratings but has given little sign of encouragement in recent starts and may be best left out of calculations so preference is for Magic Mountain, with Lindy Lou rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has been running consistently well in handicaps and claimers all season, without getting his head in front, but looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to open his account for the season today. Birkside has struggled against the handicapper since winning at Lingfield in June so it is no surprise to see him in this company, while Up In Arms has claims on the pick of his form but is inconsistent. Law Of The Land is hard to recommend on recent form and a bigger threat is likely to come from Charlie Cyzer's lightly raced Lindy Lou, who remains open to further improvement. Magic Mountain has solid claims in a weak race though and he gets the vote.
