In depth
Verdict
A trappy race, but Camberley is taken to resume winning ways, with Najeebon, Haulage Man and Commission the main dangers. Camberley returned from a long absence to win in fine style at Goodwood on his return, travelling well and showing a good turn of foot to beat Unscrupulous and Master Robbie in cosy fashion. He was then the subject of a big gamble at Royal Ascot, finishing eighth of 27 behind Attache, and in this slightly weaker race he is fancied to make amends here, with Kieren Fallon taking over the reins from Richard Hughes. Commission is a lightly-raced sort, and one of only two three-year-olds in the line-up. Gerard Butler's colt takes a big drop in distance here, having finished third over ten furlongs at Bath last time, and this may well suit him so he is one for the shortlist. So too is Haulage Man, who should go well at a decent price. Beaten by the draw in the Carlisle Bell earlier this week, he had earlier run extremely well when second at that track and goes well for Paul Hanagan. Najeebon finished a neck in front of Camberley at Royal Ascot and was a winner earlier this seaosn at Pontefract, but we feel that Camberley is capable of turning that form around and Paul Cole's charge could just be good enough.
