Verdict

Ben Vrackie just failed to catch Baghdad at Ascot on last month’s reappearance. This longer trip is not a problem and he’ll prove a popular choice to confirm running with both Collide and Secret Advisor. The latter was having his first start since winning the Melrose at York in 2017 but has something to prove now while recent Pontefract winner Caliburn was well beaten over 1m5f at last year’s meeting though has switched yards since. OUTBOX lost his unbeaten record when caught on the line in Listed company over 1m7f at Chantilly on his return to action. But Simon Crisford’s charge will be sharper today and gets the vote handicapping for the first time with plenty more to come from him this year. The winning streak of King's Advice came to end in the Northumberland Plate but he’d won over today’s trip a Goodwood before that when narrowly beating What A Welcome though the latter has come up short over track and trip subsequently.
