In depth

Verdict

Leg Spinner gets the call over the likes of Nae Bother At All, Mister Jungle and Time To Roam. There are certainly plenty in with chances here, and for some the pairing of Ruby Walsh and Tony Martin with Leg Spinner will prove an irresistible combination. The big question is whether the six-year-old is back to his best, because if he is, then he must surely stamp his class on this field. Winner of the Ascot Stakes two years ago, he has obviously had his problems since then, having had just two runs over hurdles. The last of those was when pulled up at Gowran in March when he was reported to have lost his action. His very shrewd trainer would not even contemplate sending him over if there was no chance of landing a possible touch, and so we can assume that he will be fit and ready. His rivals are all beatable; Nae Bother At All let his supporters down last time, is still a maiden and has to give weight away all round. Mister Jungle was pulled up on his last start, Time To Roam was beaten in a seller, and The Saltire Tiger would probably prefer faster ground. All in all, if the money comes in for Leg Spinner, then the hint should be taken.
