In depth

Verdict

A very competitive handicap hurdle to end proceedings and a sporting vote is given to Strolling Vagabond, with English Jim and Majestic Moonbeam put forward as the main rivals. John Uposon's seven-year-old, unlike most of these, does have recent winning form. He got the better of today's rival English Jim over course and distance back in January. He came home two lengths clear and although slightly worse off with that rival he should confirm the form. Majestic Moonbeam is not too consistent nowadays but is dropping nicely down the handicap and does face his easiest task of the season. If returning to anywhere near his best he will be a tough nut to crack. Best of the others could be Star Time, but in a race where bets should be kept small, Strolling Vagabond is selected.
