      In depth

      Verdict

A typically competitive handicap to get things underway with the weights headed by Newmarket raider, Camelot. He is sure to be a popular call in the market with his trainer is in great form at the moment, but he will need to progress from a win in a fairly ordinary Haydock maiden. Musical Heath is another who should like the fast ground. Technically he is on a winning mark but with trainer Peter Harris in wretched form at the moment, it may pay to look elsewhere. General Hawk owes nothing to connections this season and is a much improved performer. He is effective on the surface but whether he truly stays a mile is something for punters to puzzle over. Eric Alston is in good form at the moment and Puppet Play comes here off the back of a Warwick win. Brett Doyle produced a peach of ride from the saddle on that occasion but the time was a slow one and she has gone up five pounds for the win. Adobe could be the one at tempting odds and he is tentatively given the Teamtalk nod. Mark Brisbourne's stable is beginning to fire again with plenty of winners mid-week and his stalwart looks to be back to a much more realistic mark of 69. He is fairly exposed but that said, the horse is consistent enough and this is arguably his easiest task for quite some time.
