Verdict
Alan Berry's Laurel Dawn was just touched off at Pontefract a couple of runs ago but the draw of one is a severe hinderance today. The Teamtalk vote goes to Roses of Spring. A recent winner of a Leicester handicap, she had Mary Jane and Be My Tinker behind. She isn't the most consistent of performers but she seems in good heart at the moment and if she reproduces anything like that performance, she must take the beating. The in-form Paul Cole sends an interesting contender in Ballybunion. He has been desperately out of form over longer trips but any market move would be of interest. Northern sprint regular Strensall won back to back races at Catterick over five furlongs. David Allan takes five pounds off his back and it would be folly to rule him out of the equation from a favourable draw.
