In depth
Verdict
Godolphin have, in a roundabout way, a good angle on the worth of the form shown by Desert Imp and the boys in blue can collect again with Archeology, who made a pleasing enough debut to expect a little more from her this time. Lady Doris Watts and Fashion House are others to consider for a place in the frame - with the former just edging preference from that personal battle after a bold effort at Warwick at the start of this month. As a half-sister to fairly useful twelve-furlong winner Lucky Leo, the Mick Channon-trained filly can be expected to develop into decent handicapper next year and her connections will know a lot more about where to go with her once she is handicapped. That has very rarely, if ever, been a serious concern for Godolphin, who have a wealth of talent at their disposal this season. Therefore, it is safe to assume that Archeology will be going hell for leather to boost her paddocks value sooner rather than later and her claims are too hard to ignore today.
