In depth
Verdict
A few of these have been expensive to follow and although Mount Vettore has obvious claims there could also be some mileage to be gained in siding with Uhuru Peak, who scraps in at the foot of the weights. Senechal and Neon Blue are others that hail from yards that have to be respected and are well worth keeping tabs on in the betting. The former was disappointing under today's apprentice on Tuesday and looks a little risky on the terms of the race here. The faster ground will help and the market will give us the best clues as to whether he is expected to bounce back. Neon Blue has been on the go since May and, like Mount Vettore has been the model of consistency when conditions have been right. However, he does appear to need the ground a lot firmer than he will encounter here and is reluctantly passed over. Mount Vettori can be fractious in the preliminaries and it may be prudent to wait and see if he is going to be one of the last into the stalls before getting involved with him. He is a worth a saver if he does not boil over. However, Uhuru Peak fits a familiar profile of a Mick Easterby entrant to underestimate at your peril. The son of Bal Harbour has stayed this sort of trip with ease in the past and should have no problems with the ground. Uhuru Peak is also set to race off an absolute featherweight and, assuming that he is available at double-figure odds, he looks a solid each way bet in another tough handicap.
