        Verdict

        David Barron does well here and his Penwell Hill gets the nomination to expand on the statistics; possibly at the main expense of Apache Point and Royal Racer, who both hold decent claims at the weights. There may also be a little more to come from Calculaite, who admittedly only won a weak race at Folkestone, but has held his form well since then. A watching brief on the market is advised where he is concerned. Apache Point is a previous course and distance winner that hails from a yard that are in good form at the moment. However, he has been struggling to find his racing shoes of late and is not one to be taking a short price about as he bids to get back to winning ways. Therefore, a more reliable option comes in the shape of Penwell Hill, who showed grim determination when getting off the mark for the turf season at Carlisle last month. Barron's charge can be very hard to get past when he is in the mood and, considering that he has won off much higher marks on the all weather, he has a solid chance of following up today.
