Verdict

Mark Johnston's Mister Angry has disappointed this term after a promising reappearance in a conditions race and, despite having been given a chance by the handicapper, he looks best left out of calculations after his latest start at Pontefract and so it may be worth siding with MOLON LABE, who is preferred to Laverre. Tim Easterby's filly was not disgraced on her first start in a handicap at Warwick last month when a close up fifth behind Home Advantage and she has to be respected racing off a 2lb lower mark today. Brooklands Bay belied odds of 33/1 when making a winning debut as a juvenile at Wolverhampton in October but has struggled in handicaps since that including when a well held fifth behind Azlak at Pontefract last month. The David Evans-trained Firehawk is capable but inconsistent and of more interest is the selection, Molon Labe. Tom Tate's gelding ran too badly to be true at Nottingham last month over two miles when last of eight behind Dream Spinner and he looks worth another chance judged by his earlier third behind Beat The Rush at Pontefract over this trip.
