In depth
Verdict
Compton Eclaire can outstay the opposition today, with Tilla, Zalda and Resonance taken to chase her home. Compton Eclaire stays the trip and has been quite consistent this season so has more chance than most of landing the spoils. Gerard Butler's filly mirrored the return to form of the stable when scoring at Warwick in June and since then has performed with credit on three subsequent occasions. She may well have won at Lingfield last time but for a smart ride from Dettori on the winner Belle Rouge and the slight drop back in trip should not be a problem. Tilla showed signs of a return to form when second at Haydock, but even so did not find much when asked to go about her business and looks booked for a place only again. Zalda misbehaved on her last visit here, failing to line up for the flip start and tailed off when she eventually got going. She obviously has a mind of her own but does have winning form so should not be ruled out entirely, while Resonance, a daughter of Slip Anchor has shown enough to suggest that she might have a bright future over hurdles in future. For now though, Compton Eclaire looks very much the one to be on.
