        In depth

        Verdict

        In a very weak finale, the recent placed form of Hand Chime stands out, and he is preferred over Currency, with Nivernais best of the rest. There are plenty of duck-eggs on show here, and with it being an apprentice event as well, bets should be kept to the bare minimum, but a small investment on Hand Chime is the suggestion. The Willie Haggas inmate has slipped back down the weights since his winning run two years ago, and off his present mark should at least make a bold bid to go one better than his second at Yarmouth under today's pilot eight days ago. He is not noted for his consistency however and is by no means a confident selection. Milton Bradley runs two, with Currency the best of them. Like the selection, he too has seen better days but is also well handicapped and has shown bits and pieces of form this term. Henry Candy should never be left out of calculations when he visits the Wiltshire track and so Nivernais is worth a mention. A course winner here last year, he takes a drop in grade after contesting a class C affair at Newbury and should be in the shake-up. It is hard to make a case for the rest on paper, so the market should be watched for any springers, and for the likely winner we return to Hand Chime.
