Verdict
Not a strong contest and while Big Wheel is respected, a chance is taken with course specialist Mighty Fine, who has only finished out of the frame once here in his last six outings, winning three times, runner-up twice and a third to his name. Off the track since May need be of no concern, as he has gone well fresh in the past and while he may not be that well handicapped now, there aren't that many who can be seriously fancied. Big Wheel has been running well enough over hurdles and is interesting on this return to chasing. Made favourite for his chasing debut last year, backers soon knew their fate when he got no further than the fifth. Given a confidence restorer next time at Hereford, he hasn't been seen since over fences, but he has been kept busy enough over timber including three outings here, where he has yet to finish out of the frame. This fast ground is in his favour and he is well treated over fences compared to his hurdles mark, so, granted a trouble free round, he looks sure to play a part. Of the others Nosam lacks consistency, as does Cromwell, but the Alleycat is more than capable if allowed a free role up front. However, Mighty Fine seems more genuine than most and is taken to prove too strong for Big Wheel and company.
