In depth

Verdict

Form over the trip is the key to this and Sea Ya Maite, who was cruising until hitting his barrier over a mile and a half here last week, is just preferred over Pagent, Smart Scot and Ginner Morris, who returns to the Flat after an unsuccessful spell over hurdles. However, it is worth bearing in mind that all of these find themselves in this grade after being unsuccessful at whatever they have tried so far, and it is a race that lacks any strength-in-depth. Therefore, it is as much in hope as it is in expectation, that Sea Ya Maite can be revitalised by the drop in trip. On the positive side though, he is a previous five-time winner over course and distance and reserves his best for these sharp turns. Factors which give more solid claims than almost every other runner in the field and he looks tailor-made to play a strong hand today. Pageant is well suited to racing over a mile and he could be the one to give Sea Ya Maite the most to do if he can readapt to the track on his first appearance here for almost two years.
