In depth
Verdict
Paddywack was well backed when beaten at York recently and has been running well of late, so he could be capable of scoring here with Proud Native, Strensall and Musical Fair put forward as the most likely dangers. The selection was a little disappointing last time over 6 furlongs, but he is best over this trip and is well drawn in stall 11. Lisa Jones is taking off a handy 3lbs and with conditions to suit he should go very close. There are a plethora of dangers in the field and Proud Native looks to be the principle one. He confirmed his well-being when a good third behind Willhewiz at Sandown last time, but the suspicion is that age may be just beginning to catch up with him and on this occasion we are happy to oppose him. Strensall can never be ruled out in these type of events and he is well drawn, as is Musical Fair. However, they both finished behind our selection last time and there is no obvious reason why the placings should be reversed here. Kangarilla Road is a course and distance winner so has to be respected, but he has it all to do from stall 5. This is a difficult race to predict but Paddywack has plenty in his favour and is given the tentative nomination.
