          Verdict

          This looks as difficult as the size of the field suggests, and contrary to public opinion, a high draw is not necessarily a disadvantage so few can be ruled out with any confidence. Mutasawwar escapes a penalty for winning an apprentice handicap at Ripon last week. He is clearly in good heart and relishes these conditions so looks the safest option from a punting point of view. However, Milton Bradley does not make things easy by saddling three other runners, the pick of which is probably General Smith, who chased home Mutasawwar at Ripon and now has George Duffield on board. Erracht is another in good heart and she made all to score at Musselburgh last time so should be thereabouts despite a four pound rise here. Tuscan Dream has been running poorly on sand lately, but is a course and distance winner on a very good mark, so cannot be completely ruled out
