In depth
Verdict
A cracking contest with the runners headed by Atavus, who looks to have a stiff task giving weight to some more than useful rivals. There should be little between Serieux and Demonstrate on these terms, but John Gosden's team has been slow to come to hand this term, but the signs have been more encouraging of late and Demonstrate may come out on top this time. However, the one they all have to beat is Blatant, who is now in the care of Saeed Bin Suroor. Formerly with John Oxx, who saddled him to win twice in Ireland, he always looked the type to do better as he got older and as he is now with a stable that excels with its older horses, he could be one to follow this year. Right Approach is another who could well show improvement for another year on his back and is not one to dismiss lightly, even though he has plenty to prove on the bare form he has shown to date. King's Ironbridge, the winner of the Craven Stakes back in 2001, has never been the same since and on a line through Umistim, has plenty to find on these terms, if he to trouble the selection.
