Verdict
Some woefully disappointing types on show and this is unlikely to be the strongest betting heat of the day. Therefore, Skylarker is only a tentative selection to bring to an end a frustrating run of fair efforts in defeat. A handful of others also fit that profile coming into the race and Hov, Middleton Grey and Caroubier are all capable of going close if they run to their best. While Noul, Spanish Gold and Buscador all have a recent win to their names and have to be considered as live dangers for the each way places. However, it is again the master of the fibresand, Ian Mongan's choice to be reunited with Skylarker that buoys our confidence here. The six-year-old likes to race up with the pace in his races and should be suited by the way events may unfold. And as not many horses have been coming from off the pace at recent meetings at Dunstall Park, Skylarker is the one they all have to get past for us today.
