As has been the order of the day, not too many of these would win awards for consistency and only a handful make any appeal whatsoever - Mr Pertemps being the most solid for us. Of the rest: Speedfit Free has ability on his day and has sound claims of a place in this company. But he is also an habitual loser and, like the majority of the field, can never be relied upon to run two races the same and is opposable. Shadowfax is still open to a bit of improvement and will win a maiden somewhere along the line. But he has endured plenty of problems and ran as if he lacks interest when appearing to have a good chance at Southwell last week. Dockduckout is the other one to watch out for and it could be significant if he is supported today. However, he too has a very long absence to overcome and he may just need this. So it could pay to stick with Mr Pertemps, who put in a fair effort on his debut run on this surface last time. Geronimo in division on of this race will give a good indication to his chance and, assuming the portents are good, Mr Pertemps can land Richard Fahey and his connections another well thought out touch.
