Verdict

Jan Brueghel is taken to get the better of Million Percent and Compton Arrow in the first of eight races on the card. David Barron is always worth following on the all-weather and can add to his tally with Jan Brueghel, a back-to-back winner at Southwell earlier in the year. Off the track since disappointing back on turf there in March, the son of Phone Trick looked fit enough for his recent return, also at Southwell, when a close second to Mufreh. He may well have won had he not raced wide into the straight, and looks set for a profitable campaign this winter. Million Percent was fourth in the Ayr Silver Cup but has not raced on the all-weather for well over a year and has to shoulder topweight here. Compton Arrow had a busy season on turf, his only reward a Catterick victory in moderate company. The rest are hard to fancy, and Jan Brueghel, who attracted support in the ring on his return, can pay to follow.
