In depth
Verdict
Spindor is only a tentative selection in an uninspiring claimer, with Empress Josephine and Amelia put up as the main dangers. Spindor, a course and distance winner in February, gained a further success at Lingfield in August when battling home in selling handicap company. Since then he has been tackling better company than this, and weakened two furlongs out on a return to Dunstall Park two weeks ago. That was over seven furlongs, so the drop down in distance and grade should help his cause. Empress Josephine has her first outing here, but was successful at Southwell in June, so is worth bearing in mind, while Amelia¿s first ever victory came on this course three years ago, and since then, this game little mare has been kept very busy. She showed her wellbeing with a hard-fought success at Bath in June and would not be a surprise winner here. However, we shall return to Spindor as the answer to a trappy event.
