In depth

Verdict

In a wide open handicap, the ultra-consistent Hollow Jo is taken to get the better of Tribal Prince, Harrison Point and Ballyhurry. Hollow Jo lines up in terrific form, having won four of his last five starts, and not surprisingly rocketing up the weights in the process. However, it was not the weight but rather the trip that stopped John Jenkins' three-year-old at Goodwood last time, as he found the drop back to five furlongs too short. Back over a more suitable trip here, he looks all set to take a hand in the finish before the handicapper does finally grab him. With the Peter Harris yard in good form at present, the reasonably treated Tribal Prince must not be overlooked. He just managed to hang on Kempton over seven furlongs and will be more at home over the trip as well. Ballyhurry is tough and won't mind any easing of the ground if it rains but is creeping up the weights, while Harrison Point is surely better than we saw on his handicap bow at Nottingham when finishing nearer last than first. Bailieborough will have plenty of local support as well, but we will stick with Hollow Jo to once again can defy the handicapper.
