Verdict

Tapis Libre won this in 2017 and was fourth last year, though isn’t getting any younger. Joanna Mason’s mount Makawee has to go on the short-list having followed up a course and distance victory last month with a win at Wetherby. Apterix had been enjoying a revival until failing to act around Chester and can’t be ruled out and a case can be made for Archi's Affaire from last year’s winning yard, despite an absence since September. Serena Brotherton rides Beverley winner Where's Jeff for Mick Easterby but ARCTIC FOX also has a talented lady rider on board in Carol Bartley. Richard Fahey’s three-year-old steps up in trip again off a 5lb higher mark but is progressing quickly enough to complete the hat-trick.
