Fiji prop Campese Ma'afu has been suspended for a week having been sent off for two yellow-card offences against Wales.

The 29-year-old, who plays for Championship side Nottingham, was handed the ban when appearing at an independent disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.

Ma'afu was initially sin-binned at the end of the first half for collapsing a maul and then given his marching orders again soon after returning for an illegal mid-air tackle on Bradley Davies at a line-out.

"The disciplinary committee, chaired by Jeremy Summers along with Dan White (both England), having viewed footage of the two incidents and listened to representations by and on behalf of the player, imposed a sanction of a one-week suspension," read a statement, released by the Autumn International Disciplinary.

"The sanction imposed reflected the persistent nature of the offending, rather than the substance of the offences themselves."

As a result of the decision, Ma'afu will sit out Fiji's third and last European tour match against the United States in Vannes on Friday.
